Regenerating your VPN Key

Overview

Your VPN Key is used in the encryption process, and it is automatically rotated and regenerated every 7-10 days for security purposes. It also helps us recognize your device apart from other devices that are connected to our network.

Before attempting to Regenerate your VPN Key, we recommend Changing your VPN Location. In most cases that will do the trick. If you are still unable to connect, you can follow the steps provided below to generate a new VPN Key for your device.

In order to establish the connection, a secure handshake is required between your device and the data center. The VPN Key is used to uniquely identify your device and complete the handshake.

If this handshake fails or if you are unable to connect for any reason, your key is likely out-of-date. Generating a fresh VPN Key will ensure the handshake is completed successfully.

It is not necessary to regenerate this key unless you are having trouble connecting, or you are instructed to do so by our support team.
